Kaizer Chiefs has issued a statement to confirm that they have appointed former Bidvest Wits coach Gavin Hunt as their coach on the 3 years contract.
Kaizer Chiefs parted ways with their former coach Ernst Middendorp after the failure to secure the league as the team had been on the summit of the log for 28 games. Chiefs needed just a win against Baroka FC, failed to deliver as that game ended in a 1-All draw.
Chiefs went ion the hunting spree to try to find another coach to bring back the glory days for the Glamour Boys. Various names were bandied along, such Benni McCarthy, Gavin Hunt, Adel Amrouche, and their former coach Stuart Baxter.
Gavin Hunt has won the race to become the coach of the most supported team in the country. Hunt is a 4 times league winner with 2 teams, and he is known for being an excellent tactician as well as his ability to manage the players.
Since Hunt has put the pen on the paper and will be expected to be in charge of the team on Monday when there return for the pre-season.
It is still not clear who Chiefs’ assistance coach (es) will be as there were speculations that Doctor Khumalo and Kwanele Kopo might be roped in as Hunt’s assistants.
