The Nigerian National team’s ‘Super Eagles’ 2020/2021 official kit was revealed by The Nigeria Football Federation.
The NFF’s official twitter account shared the images featuring Nigerian football stars like Asisat Oshoala, William Troost-Ekong, Wilfred Ndidi, Rasheedat Ajibade, and Samuel Chukwueze .
The newly designed kits retain a resemblance to the much loved old designs in that the home kits maintain a patterned design while the away strip remains an all-green ensemble with the main difference being a patterned green design around the neckline and sleeves.
Speaking on the new kits, Nike Senior Director of Global Communications Heidi Burgett said the new home strip design incorporates features of the traditional agbada robe fused with modern football design while the away strip is inspired by a form of traditional Yoruba art and design known as Onaism.
The jerseys were originally supposed to be launched earlier in the year in New York, but the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic forced the postponement of the planned launch.
A larger collection of Super Eagles apparel that includes a poncho, vest, dress and other accessories will also be released alongside the new jerseys Ms Burgett said.
The Super Eagles will launch the new wears during the FIFA window for international friendlies next month when they take on Tunisia and Ivory Coast in Austria.
