Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante has been ruled out of the World Cup after undergoing an operation on his hamstring, the club has announced.
The 31-year-old French international suffered the injury in Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Tottenham back on August 14.
In a statement, Chelsea announced that Kante will be out for four months, as a result’s he will miss the FIFA World Cup, which start on November 20.
The club statement:
“N’Golo Kante has undergone an operation on his hamstring injury.
“The midfielder visited a specialist with the club’s medical department to explore the options for his rehabilitation approach and it was mutually agreed for N’Golo to have surgery to repair the damage.
“Following a successful operation, N’Golo is now expected to be sidelined for four months.”
