Mamelodi Sundowns defender Bambanani Mbane says her side are keen to defend their Women’s Champions League title but insists they are focused on winning each match at a time.
The Former Dinamo Minsk of Belarus star has been in great form in Morocco and even scored in the 5-0 win over Wadi Delga before providing an assist in a 4-0 win over TP Mazembe.
The Cup holders have put up a ruthless display this year, winning all their group-stage games, including a 2-1 opener over Bayelsa Queens and the defender insists it didn’t come easy.
“It was not an easy game to play but I’m happy with the three points we knew they wanted to win so badly,” Mbane told CAFOnline.com.
“But thanks to the coach for giving us the opportunity and supporting us, it was never an easy game but we played our hearts out.
The coach [Jerry Tshabalala] told us that we must win the game, no pressure and we knew it was not going to be easy we wanted to win all of our games so I’m happy for my team.”
Just as they did in 2021, Sundowns finished top of Group B with nine points plus 11 massive goals and were rewarded with a semi-final duel with Simba Queens, runners-up from Group A.
When asked about their semi-final tie with the East Africans who eliminated COSAFA champions Green Buffaloes, the 32-year-old revealed they are already plotting their winning strategy.
“It’s not going to be easy playing semi-final with Simba Queens, but we do have a plan for them and we will take it one game at a time,” she concluded.
