LEICESTER flop Ahmed Musa has been released by Al Nassr and is now available on a free transfer after he helped them win the Saudi league.

Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr have officially confirmed Musa’s departure from the club.

They announced the news on Twitter where they wished him well in his future endeavours.

The post reads: “Wish you well Nigerian Falcon, wishing you all the best in future.”

Musa, 28, has yet to comment on his departure but is expected to announce his next destination over the coming days, according to Goal.

In his 58 appearances for Nassr, he scored 11 goals and provided 14 assists, helping the team win the 2018/19 Saudi league and Super Cup.

This is in stark contrast to his dismal form in the Premier League with Leicester City.

He joined the Foxes in 2016 from CSKA Moscow for £16million – a club record at the time, with hopes of partnering Jamie Vardy in the ‘fastest forward line in the Premier League.’

Musa said shortly after his arrival at Leicester: “I showed everyone what I am capable of. I think I impressed the supporters very much and I am going to do a lot more of what I do best.

“I don’t feel under any pressure because I am already settled into the squad and I’m very happy to be coming to the Premier League.”

But his dreams were short-lived as his time at the club went from bad to worse.

In 32 appearances he only managed to score five times in all competitions, two of which were in the Premier League.

After falling out of favour at the King Power stadium, Musa was loaned back to his former club CSKA in 2018, before going on to join Nassr.

Upon his departure, Musa claimed that Leicester had ‘forced him out of the club.’

In an explosive interview with OwnGoalNigeria he said: “I wanted to stay in England because that has been my dream for years but what will you do when you’re told a bid has been accepted for you?

“I had to move to where I know I will be celebrated.”
