Manchester United have confirmed that Erik ten Hag has left his role as the club manager.
Ten Hag’s axing comes a day after the Red Devils suffered a 2-1 defeat to West Ham United in a Premier League clash at the London Stadium.
It was their fourth loss in nine games which saw them moving down to 14th place in the league standings.
In a statement, Man United thanked the Dutch manager for his contribution to the club.
Having joined them from Ajax Amsterdam in April 2022, Ten Hag led United to two domestic titles – the Carabao Cup in 2023 and the FA Cup in 2024.
“We are grateful to Erik for everything he has done during his time with us and wish him well for the future,” read a statement from the club.
“Ruud van Nistelrooy will take charge of the team as interim head coach, supported by the current coaching team, whilst a permanent head coach is recruited.”
Ex-Barcelona coach Xavi, Borussia Dortmund’s Edin Terzic, Brentford’s Thomas Frank, and Sporting Lisbon’s Ruben Amorim have been linked with the manager role.
