Ruben Amorim was left disappointed after Manchester United lost 3-2 to Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford on Saturday.
It was Forest’s first win at Old Trafford in 30 years.
Forest had opened the scoring in the second minute thanks to Nikola Milenkovic before United pulled level through Rasmus Hojlund.
But again less than two minutes of the start of the first half, Morgan Gibbs-White restored Forest’s advantage after an error from goalkeeper Andre Onana, a lead which Chris Wood doubled.
A late goal from Bruno Fernandes was not enough to stop Amorim suffering back-to-back top-flight defeats for just the second time in his managerial career following on from Wednesday’s loss at Arsenal.
“Tough game,” Amorim said. “We started really bad, the first play we suffered a goal and then it’s hard to try to fight. We then controlled the game and had a lot of situations.
“We improved the movement in the last third. We managed to draw the game and then at half-time we were ready to go for the win and then started really bad. Two goals. Then we tried a lot of things with not a lot of quality.
“We didn’t have many situations to score. Tough game in a tough moment but we have to continue the job.
“This is a long journey. We are improving in some aspects. We have to win games to help us improve the team.
“We are in the start of something so big that we pay attention to every detail. We already know it’s a big job so we have to continue.”
Amorim is convinced that they will get things right at Man United.
“Of course, we have to. I think everybody here has experienced ups and downs in football. You have to continue your job, doing the same things, being really convinced of your way. I’m really convinced of that. It’s really hard to lose games. I know the public and the fans want to win. It’s a long time without winning, without that feeling. We’re in a long journey and we’re going to do it.”
