AS FAR Rabat coach Hubert Velud says his side is capable of competing for the CAF Champions League title.
Velud made the bold declaration following a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Moroccan rivals Raja Casablanca last Saturday which helped them to reach the last eight.
It was the first time FAR Rabat has reached the CAF Champions League quarter-finals since the introduction of the group stage format, after they went top of the group nine points and one match left.
“We have all the capabilities to compete for this title. This team is very good, and our fans deserved this performance from us. I am happy to lead the Royal Army to this result; it is a club worthy of respect,” said Velud ahead of their final Group B match against Mamelodi Sundowns.
Velud added: “We achieved what was required, and the qualification is fair and deserved. Even the draw is fair, considering what happened in the match and its fluctuations.”
Rabat’s game against Sundowns is set to take place at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium on Sunday.
