Fulham’s match against Burnley at Turf Moor on Sunday has been postponed after further positive coronavirus cases at the west London club.

The Premier League match was due to begin at 12:00 GMT on Sunday.

Fulham’s previous league match against Tottenham on Wednesday was called off after a “significant number” of positive test results.

“The League and Fulham will agree a further action plan to control the outbreak,” the Premier League said.

Fulham players and staff were retested after the cancellation of the midweek match against Spurs.

They had been set to train on Saturday morning but were told not to attend the session, according to The Athletic.

“Following Fulham’s request to rearrange the Burnley fixture, the Premier League’s Board has taken into consideration further independent medical advice and decided to postpone the match due to the exceptional circumstances of the ongoing outbreak at the club,” a Premier League statement read.

“The League will rearrange Fulham’s two postponed games as soon as possible.”

Those who have tested positive will now self-isolate.

It is the fourth Premier League fixture to be postponed this season because of coronavirus cases.

A Fulham statement said: “The welfare of our players, staff and their families continue to be of paramount importance.”

Fulham previously told BBC Sport they were looking into claims Aleksandar Mitrovic broke coronavirus rules by attending a New Year’s party – along with Crystal Palace midfielder Luka Milivojevic.

Images on social media, reported in the Sun, allegedly show the Serbia team-mates celebrating in London with at least seven other adults.

The mixing of households indoors is banned in London under the UK government’s tier four restrictions.

Fulham were contacted about the story by the Sun on Friday evening and are looking into the matter.

Tottenham also criticised three of their players after they breached rules by attending a party over Christmas.

“With low numbers of positive tests across the overwhelming majority of clubs, the League continues to have confidence in its Covid-19 protocols, fully backed by the Government, to enable fixtures to be played as scheduled,” the Premier League statement added.
