CAF conducted the Total CAF Champions League draw on Friday afternoon.
Many South African soccer fans wanted to know who between Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns might be in the same group as Mamelodi Sundowns’ ex-coach Pitso Mosimane’s Al Ahly. Both teams avoided Al Ahly as Al Ahly was in the Group A
This is the first time that Kaizer Chiefs is playing in the Group stages of Total CAF Champions league, whereas Sundowns has been a yearly participant in the recent history.
Kaizer Chiefs managed to get to the Group stage after beating Angolan’s Agosto with a 1 – 0 aggregate. Sundowns beat Jwaneng Galaxy FC of Botswana 5 – 1 on aggregate.
Jwaneng Galaxy FC will now face another south Africa powerhouse Orlando Pirates in the CAF Confederations Cup.
