Tomkins and Benteke come close but London derby finishes all-square
Arsenal’s three-match Premier League winning run came to an end as they drew 0-0 with Crystal Palace at Emirates Stadium.
The hosts had the better of the opening stages but Palace grew into the game and twice came closest to scoring in the first half.
James Tomkins’ header hit the crossbar on 39 minutes before Christian Benteke met Tyrick Mitchell’s cross with a thumping header that Bernd Leno clawed away at full stretch.
Ainsley Maitland-Niles tested Vicente Guaita shortly after the hour mark and Rob Holding headed a Bukayo Saka corner wide, but the match finished goalless.
The result leaves Arsenal 11th with 24 points from 18 matches.
Palace, who extend their unbeaten league run over the Gunners to five matches, are a point and two places behind them.
