Mikel Arteta, Arsenal’s head coach is reportedly raising funds for transfers which could be the reason why nine first-team players are up for sale at the Emirates.
The Gunners won the FA Cup in 2019/20 but finished in eighth place in the Premier League, 43 points off champions Liverpool which is their lowest position in the Premier League era.
According to the Daily Mail, in order for the London outfit to buy players for next season, they first have to sell and Arteta has identified nine players he is willing to let go.
Unsurprisingly, the defense is high on the list of issues in the squad to improve as Hector Bellerin, Shkodran Mustafi and Sead Kolasinac featured on the club’s transfer list.
One big name that could be on his way out of the Emirates Stadium is striker Alexandre Lacazette, who is reportedly a target for Atletico Madrid.
The Daily Star reported on Sunday that Lacazette is close to joining Atletico Madrid in a deal said to be worth €33million.
It is believed the Gunners will green-light the move once Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s new contract is finalized.
