Polokwane City hosted Kaizer Chiefs at Loftus Stadium on Saturday at 15h30, in what proved to be the thrilling game of the moment.
Chiefs started in the back foot with Polokwane putting the first goal from their defender Lesiba Nku past Daniel Akpeyi.
Polokwane City was threatening Chiefs on the sides, where Reeve Frosler and Yagan Sasman play… this led to both of them being replaced at half time.
Amakhosi brought in Bernard Parker, Willard Katsande, and Ramahlo Mphahlele during half time. This changed the game’s dynamics and the impact of Katsande could be seen immediately.
Polokwane managed to score the second goal from a deflected free-kick beating Akpeyi who was already going to the opposite side, the goal came from Rise and Shine Caption Jabulani Maluleka.
Chiefs started picking up the pace and in the 71st minute the got a goal from Willard Katsande’s header, this was followed by another goal from Anthony Agay in the 75th minute and last one by Samir Nurkovic in the 76th Minute.
Lazarous Kambole has multiple opportunities to score the goals which failed to materialize, including the opportunity where he had beaten Rise and shine Goalkeeper Cyril Chigwe, however, this was blocked by the Tlolane from the touchline.
Chiefs were awarded a penalty in the dying minutes. Daniel Cardoso took the penalty which hit the crossbar.
Samir Nurkovic was nominated as the man of the match and he said the is happy with the points and this game is in the past now, there are still 6 games to come and they will be focusing on the next game.
Chiefs’ coach Ernst Middendorp said he is not too happy with how the team played at the start of the game, but he is happy with the character of the team in the second half as the team managed to come back from a 2 – nil down. He also stated that he is not focusing on who is leading with the league and who is following, he just wants to look after the team and do the best the team can.
Amakhosi’s next game is against Bloemfontein Celtic on the 19th of August 2020.
Rise and Shine’s next game is against Supersport United on the 19th of August 2020.
