Orlando Pirates hosted Supersport United at Emirates Park Stadium on Saturday. Although Pirates are mathematically out of the race for the league championship, this the game was seen as important as victory could move them closer to their ambitions of playing in the CAF next season.
The game started off with full steam with both teams putting each other under pressure. This led to both goalkeepers being busy from the beginning.
Pirates got their first goals from Vincent Pule on the 28th minutes and Supersport United got their equalizer on the 41st minutes from Luke Fleurs.
During half time the goals were level on 1 – 1.
Zakhele Lepasa got the winning goal for Bucs in the 58th minute.
Matsatsantsa a Pitori were awarded 2 penalties which were both saved by the man of the match Wayne Sandilands. The first penalty on the 63rd minute was taken by Bradley Grobler and the second one on the 72nd minute was taken by Thamsaqa Gabuza.
Orlando Pirates coach Josef Zinnbauer was pleased with their first win since the resumption of football.
