Bidvest Wits hosted Kaizer Chiefs at the FNB Stadium on Sunday afternoon in a tightly contested match but ended in a loss to the log leaders.
The Clever Boys dominated the game with 52% possession while Amakhosi dominated with 48% possession. Gavin Hunt’s men also had 6 shots with 5 shots on target while Middendorp’s men had 12 shots with 2 shots on target.
The Soweto giant suffered on a blow when Akpeyi had a collision in the game and had to be wheeled out of the pitch. Chiefs came out strong in the second half as a low shot from Nange nearly put Chiefs on the back-foot but Bvuma got down to it.
Samir Nurkovic also had a near goal attempt but was flagged for offside, Amakhosi continued with their offensive but were later punished by Bienvenu Eva Nga at the 94th minutes who ran onto a through ball on a counter-attack taking the league title out of Chief’s hand.
The log leaders have two more games left and the league title hopes now depends on the outcome of the clash between Mamelodi Sundowns and Baroka FC as well as the rest of their games respectively.
