Baroka staged a massive upset as they are out of relegation and reinstate Chiefs in the title race after the clash with Mamelodi Sundowns at the Dobsonville Stadium on Sunday evening.
The Brazilians could not take advantage of Chief’s loss to Bidvest Wits earlier in the afternoon which could have given them a chance to be at the top of the log if they had beaten Baroka FC.
Ananias Gebhardt scored the winning goal at the 20th minute in a free header from an in-swinging corner. Pitso’s men tried to level the game with a few more moves but they were not just good enough to convert to catch up with Ga-Mphahlele side.
Dylan Kerr’s men are threatened by relegation fought tirelessly with a few men in the team suffering muscle cramps as they were all-absorbing tremendous pressure from the Brazilians.
The domination of the game was indeed one-sided as Masandawana’s side had 72% possession with 15 shots and 3 shots on target while the Bakgakga side had 28% of ball possession with 5 shots and 2 shots on target.
