Maritzburg United was defeated by Orlando Pirates in a 1-0 win which could see the Buccaneers finishing in the top three with qualification for next season’s Caf Confederation Cup.
Tinkler’s men hosted the Sea robbers at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in a tightly contested match. The two teams struggled to create good goalscoring opportunities in the opening stages of the encounter as they gave away possession cheaply in the final third.
Pirates piled pressure on the hosts and they managed to snatch a late winning goal through Mhango, who proved to be a super-sub when he netted in the last minute of the match.
The victory took the Buccaneers to the fourth spot on the league standings – a point behind third-placed SuperSport United.
On Saturday 5th September, Orlando Pirates will play Stellenbosch while Maritzburg United will play Bloemfontein Celtic as their last matches for the 2019/2020 season of the Absa Premiership
