Mamelodi Sundowns were hosted by Polokwane City at Loftus Stadium on Wednesday evening. This was an important match for Sundowns as they are vying to defend their Absa Premiership Championship.

Before the game, Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs were both on 53 points with a goal difference of 5, Chiefs having the superior number. Sundowns managed to reduce this number as they got 3 goals past Polokwane City. Chiefs only managed to get 1 goal against Chippa United. This means both teams are on 56 points with a goal difference of 3 now.

Sundowns got their first goal in the 10th minute from Lebogang Maboe, Masandawana got their second goals on the 44th minute from Themba Zwane.

The final goal for Yellow-Nation came from Keletso Makgalwa in the dying minutes of the game.

This match seemed to have put a final nail on Polokwane City that has been technically relegated to GladAfrica Championship.

Sundowns’ final match is against another Limpopo side, Black Leopards on the final day of Absa Premiership and Polokwane will entertain Bidvest Wits at the same time, before preparing for the GladAfrica Championship campaign next season.
