A superstar from Orlando Pirates is set to appear in court, with the South African Police confirming that he was arrested in the early hours of Monday morning in an alleged relation to domestic violence, reports Soccer Laduma.
According to Siya sources, it is alleged that the famous footballer, who is also a Bafana Bafana player, physically abused his partner last night in their place of residence in Midrand.
“Look we are all very disappointed and sad as we are coming out of the Women’s Month and as South Africa, we are fighting against gender-based violence which is on a high. It’s unfortunate that some men are still continuing to do these sorts of things despite all the attempts to stop gender-based violence. We have been seeing that all isn’t well in the relationship of this couple and we have now decided that enough is enough because the woman is severely injured,” a source told the Siya crew.
The South African Police Service’s Kay Makhubela confirmed in a statement that a 27-year-old prominent footballer was detained at the Midrand Police Station this morning.
“Police in the early hours of Monday morning, 07 September 2020 arrested a 27-year old man for allegedly assaulting a woman at his place of residence in Midrand. It is reported that the suspect physically assaulted the complainant after a verbal exchange between the two, and the victim was allegedly rescued by the suspect’s friend who was present at the time of the incident that is related to domestic,” read the police’s statement.
Makhubela confirmed to the Siya crew that the player in question, whose identity is known to the Siya crew, is set to appear in court ‘soon’ where after his identity can be revealed.
