Crystal Palace hosted the Saints at the Selhurst Park Stadium on Saturday afternoon in their opening match at the English Premier League.
Southampton dominated the game with 9 shots and 5 shots on target while the host had a total of 5 shots with 3 shots on target. Wilfried Zaha’s opening goal at the 13th minute gave the host the win.
The Saints continued to put pressure on Roy Hodgson’s men but could not break through the defense with a few saves from shot-stopper Guaita.
After that frenetic end to the game, Crystal Palace hangs on for the three points, a great start to the season for Roy Hodgson’s men courtesy of a fine first-half volley from talisman Wilfried Zaha. Not a classic, but Southampton will be disappointed not to snatch a point.
