West Brom hosted Leicester City at the Hawthorns Stadium on Sunday after in their opening matches of the 2020/2021 season of the English Premier League. The Baggies held The Foxes in a goalless draw in the first half but everything changed in the second half when Brendan Rodgers men took advantage of the Albion’s defensive failings.
Timothy Castagne scored the first goal in the 56th minute, he is the fifth Belgian player to score in the Premier League debut. Rodger’s men end up with a total shot of 13 with 7 shots of the target while Slaven Bilić’s men had 7 shots in total with only 1 shot on target. Jamie Vardy’s double penalty was awarded and he scored at the 74th and 84th minutes in the game.

Jamie Vardy who has scored 34 goals in the Premier League under Brendan Rodgers – indeed, he’s netted more goals than any other player in the PL since March 3rd, 2019.
Leicester striker Jamie Vardy on Sky Sports: “It’s massive for us, especially with how we finished last season and not having long to turn it around. We are delighted for three points.
“I practice penalties every week so I knew where I would hit those. I’ve enjoyed playing here over the years and scoring goals so that celebration was for the West Brom fams at home.
“Timothy Castagne was brilliant, he thoroughly deserved his goal and he gets into those areas. Wilfred Ndidi did brilliantly in defense.”
For West Brom, it was a brutal reminder of the task they face merely trying to stay in the top flight.
All three promoted teams lost on the opening weekend and – like Fulham, who were beaten by a similar scoreline against Arsenal on Saturday – there are early question marks over whether they have the quality to survive.
